ET3: The Golden Age of Psychology on Television - An Introduction to Psychopathology in Movies and TV series
Modern TV-shows are full of psychopathology. The lecture will provide an overview of some of the most important mental disorders as described in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). Therefore, characters from popular movies and TV-Shows will be diagnosed.
To provide a different, yet not too serious, perspective on your favourite TV-Shows and an overview of mental disorders.

Niklas Gebele studied psychology at the University of Marburg, Germany. After working as a scientist and lecturer and obtaining his Ph.D. at the department of Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Marburg he became a psychodynamic psychotherapist. Currently he is senior psychologist at Klinikum Christophsbad at Göppingen, working with children, adolescents and adults in an outpatient setting, and lecturer at several psychotherapy schools. Longer than a psychologist he has been a movie – and with the golden age of television TV-Show – geek. He is interested in psychology in pop culture and the use of pop culture in psychotherapy, which is why he writes (charakterneurosen.blogspot.de) and talks (charakterneurosen.podcaster.de) about it as much as possible.
