RC1 Really bad science

Description

When applying for my current job I was asked "What is good science?" and
I was shocked that I could not give an intelligent answer. After five
years of unsuccessful pondering I turned to the easier question "What is
bad science?". Obvious answers include fraud and badly designed
experiments. But there are many other ways to harm the scientific
endeavour. In this rainbow course I classify and illustrate several
options of how to do bad science and show that these options are not
only tolerated, but even encouraged by the current system of funding and
promoting researchers.
